Convention date, Dec. 8, 1931. [Class 38 (iii).] In a Ward Leonard system in which the generator has a compounding winding 4 controlled in response to variations in the load current, relays 9, 10, 11 are provided, operating respectively in succession at different excess values of load current, to reduce the strength of the compounding, to disconnect the compound winding, and to reverse it.
