Abstract

408,027. Control of D.C. motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Goldberg, L. J. ; 1068, Maryland Avenue, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 14, 1932, No. 28748. Convention date, Oct. 15, 1931. [Class 38 (iii).] Varying E.M.F.-In a Ward Leonard system, the residual magnetism of the generator is compensated by means of an auxiliary generator 24 having opposed field windings 25 and 26, 27, energized respectively by the voltages across the armature 10, and field windings 12, 18, of the main generator. The auxiliary generator may supply an additional field 28 on the main generator, or it may be connected in the series circuit of the main generator and the driving motor 13. Alternatively, the auxiliary generator may supply a corrective field on the driving motor 13, or it may supply a torque motor which regulates resistance in the circuit of the field 18 of the main generator.
