[Class 38 (iii).] Repeater motors 20, 24 driving apparatus, such as kinematographs and sound reproducing apparatus, have their A.C. excitation supplied from terminals 21, 22 before the D.C. supply to the main driving motor 1, 2 is switched on. This is effected by providing the starter-arm 15 with a bridge 18. The starter-arm may reduce the A.C. excitation as it increases the D.C. supply. A relay may be used to complete the D.C. circuit only when current is flowing in the A.C. circuit.
