[Class 38 (iv).] The armatures of motors M1, M2, M3 are connected in a series circuit supplied with constant current from a machine MD, and their field windings G1, G2, G3 are connected, together with the control circuits for 'main contactors R1, R2, R3, and brake coils E2, E3, in a separate series circuit supplied with constant current from an auxiliary three-winding machine KR, the exciter windings of the machines MD, KR being interconnected so that the currents in the two series circuits will decrease simultaneously when the voltage of the machine MD reaches a predetermined maximum value. The machine KR may be in series with the machine MD as shown, or in series with an additional machine driven with the machine MD, and excited by its output potential. The machines MD, KR may be interchanged, or two similar machines may be employed.
