INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts- Ges.; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) March 14, 1932, No. 7570. Convention date, March 13, 1931. [Class 35.] In a stator fed polyphase shunt commutator motor wherein fixed potentials with network frequency are impressed upon the armature, one brush yoke is rotatable through a large angle and a second yoke is either fixed or is rotatable through a small angle in the.same sense and the fixed potentials are taken.from open windings lying between brushes of one yoke and brushes of the other yoke. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the fixed potential e taken from the stator or fed by the network N is impressed across the brushes, one of which rotates through the large angle from the position U through S to U<11>, whilst at the same time the other brush rotates from U<0> through S‹ to U<11>0. In Figs. 5 and 6 showing the synchronous and regulating positions respectively, there are six secondary windings, brushes u, v, w, x<1>, y<1>, z<1> being fixed and the others rotatable through a large angle. A twelve-phase system may be employed or the armature may be given a shortened winding pitch.
