Abstract

397,637. Brushes. DAVEY, J. P., 271, Oak Avenue, Garden Village, Stooksbridge, near Sheffield. June 16, 1932, No. 16993. [Class 19.] A cigarette or cigar case a is provided with a brush d which is normally retained in a compartment or casing attached to or formed integrally with the case but which can be brought, as shown, to an operative position exteriorly of its casing. The brush compartment is closed by a flap g provided with a spring k, the flap being held latched by a spring catch j ; and the brush is dovetailed into a pivoted holder provided with a spring more powerful than the spring k.' When the catch j is pressed, the spring in the brush holder forces open the flap g and turns the brush outwardly, the flap g then closing under the action of spring k. The spring to the flap g may be connected between lugs on the flap and a U-shaped frame in which the brush is pivoted, the lugs on the flap constituting part of the catch j. According to the Provisional Specification, the brush compartment may be open only at one end, the brush being carried by a slide which, when withdrawn, can be turned about a hinge so that the brush lies along one edge of the case.
