397,583. Handle-bar control mechanism. LEWIS, W. J., 18A, Wycome Road, Hall Green, and HARRIS, A. J., 97, Ivor Road, Sparkhill, both in Birmingham. March 22, 1932, No. 8432. [Class 136 (i).] In twist-grip control mechanism for motor cycle handle-bars, a slide 10, which' is connected to a transmission cable 11 and is actuated by means of a helical groove 16 in the rotatable grip 13, 14, 15, is guided in a channel in a liner or guide 3, Figs. 1 and 4, which is slidably fitted within the handle-bar 1 and is supported in such a position that the channel lies within or adjacent to a longitudinal slot 2 in the handle-bar. The liner 3 is formed with depending cradle-shaped supports 5 engaging the bore of the handle-bar and leaving a space for the passage of one or more other cables 29, actuated, for example, by means of a lever 27. Flanges 6, 7 at each end of the liner limit the travel of the slide. The parts are held in position by contractible clips 19, 25. A spring strip or divided band 23 frictionally engages the grip sleeve 13, and is held in place by an integral tongue 22 engaging a slot in the clip 19.
