[Also in Group XXVIII] A spring 8 which surrounds the flexible jacket 6, e.g. of rubber, neoprene, nylon or other thermoplastic material, of a hollow metallic core 4 of helically-wound flat wire has one end embedded in a die-cast fitting 10 surrounding a bared end of the core, the embedded coils of the spring being radially spaced from the core and closely spaced longitudinally. A cable 12 is provided at one end with a screwed fitting 14 for connection to actuating mechanism and at the other end with a fitting for attachment of the cable to a brake. A dirt-excluding rubber sleeve 18 is fastened to the fitting 10.
