Control mechanism. - Control mechanism for motor-cycles &c., comprises a rotary hand grip adapted to displace a longitudinally-movable member incorporated within or substantially within the transverse dimension of the grip, and is so constructed that the Bowden wire or other transmission mechanism may be disconnected from the actuating-mechanism and replaced while the grip is clipped in position on the handle-bar or other support. The grip 1 is rigid with a cylinder 2 carrying a sleeve 9 provided with a helical slot 8, in which engages an inclined member 7 on a slide 6, Figs. 1 and 8, which is guided by a longitudinal slot 5 in a sleeve 3 fixed by clips 12, 14 to the handle-bar, with which the inner face of the slide is in contact. The member 7 and transverse projections 4 retain the slide 6 from inward movement when the grip is removed from the handlebar. The slide 6 is provided with a slot 18, 19 adapted to receive the headed end of a Bowden cable 17, the sheath 25 of which is seated in a block 5 slidably mounted between the lugs of the clip 14, so as to be radially removable on the withdrawal of a screw 16. When the block 15 is removed, the slotted end of the slide 6 may be projected beyond the outer face of the clip 14 by means of the hand grip to facilitate attachment and detachment of the cable 17. In order to provide frictional resistance to the movement of the grip, a C-shaped spring 20 is mounted between a projection 28 on the sleeve 3 and an inward extension on the clip 14, and bears against the inner surface of the cylinder 2.
