[Class 83 (ii).] To enable cylindrical neck rings to be fitted to the rectangular mouth openings produced in making flat- or taper-topped cans, canisters or like metal containers of prismatic form from blanks, the metal around the opening 8 is pressed against a mandrel 9<x> inserted therein to afford a seating which is of circular form in section but may be tapered to receive the neck ring, which is soldered or otherwise secured either to the exterior or the interior of the seating.
