Abstract
396,894. Fountain pens ; blotting- appliances. SCHIERWATER, C. A., 7, Hatton Garden, London. May 21, 1932, Nos. 14447 and 24462. [Class 146 (iii).] A fountain pen is provided with an ink-absorbent device comprising a resilient tubular clip having an absorbent covering and adapted to be frictionally retained on the pen or its cap. The device may be in the form of a split metal sleeve having its edges 4 and, preferably, also its ends 5 flanged over for retaining an absorbent covering 3, preferably of blotting-paper, the flanges being compressed below the surface of the covering in order not to smudge the writing. Alternatively, the covering may be cemented on to the sleeve. The device can be slipped on to the barrel or cap of a fountain pen, and in the latter case, the arm of the pocket clip lies in the longitudinal division. In another form, an unsplit metal tube may be covered with absorbent material, and retained in place on the pen or cap by an inwardly-extending resilient tongue.
