Abstract

395,184. Gas meters. MARSH, R. G., 19, Noel Road, Edgbaston, and KNIGHT, A., 12, Farndon Road, Saltley, both in Birmingham. Sept. 5, 1932, Nos. 24645 and 29190. [Class 54.] The valves controlling the gas flow are arranged directly below the bellows chambers and the gas inlet and outlet passages are inclined downwardly so as to allow moisture condensed from the gas to drain away into the inlet and outlet pipes. Fig. 1 shows a meter in which the gas passing to and from the bellows chambers through ports h, i is controlled by piston valves p, Fig. 3, working in blocks o secured to the division plate b. Slide valves working on inclined seatings may be substituted for the piston valves. Fig. 6 shows a slide valve z, reciprocable over an inclined seating formed with upwardly curved passages communicating with the measuring chambers and a downwardly curved passage r communicating with the outlet passage. The valve is supported by an inclined face y engaging an inclined face x on the valve block. A slot 2 is cut below each end port to allow moisture flowing down the port when uncovered to escape. In another form slide valves are oscillated about pivots on inclined seatings.
