Gas meters.-In a dry gas meter of the diaphragm type the resistance to the flow of gas is lessened by connecting the gas inlet b by a passage n arranged above the valve plate d to the usual passage j<1> arranged below the valve plate and communicating by an opening l with the valve chamber i and also by connecting the gas outlet c by a passage n<1> arranged above the valve plate with the usual passage j<2> arranged below the valve plate and connected by passages m to the exhaust ports of the valves. Large openings q, r connect the passage j<1>, j<2> with the inlet b and outlet c respectively.
