Abstract
311,358. Kirkewhite Engineering Co., Ltd., and Goldspink, G. E. Feb. 10, 1928. Gas meters.-In a dry gas meter of large output in relation to its size and comprising a cylindrical body 1 with end diaphragms 13 having dished covers 14 forming outside gas spaces, a valve-port casing 21 fitting saddle-wise on the casing 1 and a valve chamber 23 above, the distribution passages in the valve-port casing 21 are formed by a particular arrangement of stampings fitted and soldered therein. Fig. 1 shows a vertical section of the meter, Fig. 4 the underside of the valve-port casing, Fig. 5 a section seen from underneath and Fig. 6 a diagonal crosssection. On the inlet side part of the casing 21 closed off by a stamping 43 connects the inlet 30 via an opening 44 with the valve chamber 23. The central ports 33, 36 of the two slide valves are connected by stampings 45, 46, 47 to the outlet 31, the two inner ports to side openings 38, 39 by stampings 48, 49 and the two outer ports to bottom openings 40, 41. These last connect with the gas chambers on the inner side of the diaphragms and by means of their flanges 52 the valve-port casing is positioned on the meter body. Extensions 55 of the dished covers 14 connect with the side openings 38, 39 close up to the flanges 22, 24, seals at these points checking unauthorized removal. The partition 2 of the body is formed with two steps 3, 4 and the lower bearing of the crank-shaft 8 is situated at the level of the riser between these steps. The bellcrank diaphragm-levers are pivoted in posts 15 secured to the end flanges 11 of the cylindrical body and the pins connecting them to the connecting-rods are eccentrically fixed on studs angularly adjustable in the levers.
