Abstract

394,221. Spray carburetters valves. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R., 4, Militõrstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Oct. 31, 1932, No. 30448. Convention date, Nov. 12, 1931. [Class 7 (iii).] Relates to automatic throttle valves for air or mixture of the type in which a disc is pivoted out of centre so as to present unequal surfaces o be acted upon by uction to produce a urning moment to open he valve. With valves of this type it is found hat after a certain opening has been reached, he difference in the forces tending to open and to close the valve are so slight that the ralve never becomes opened to its full extent. The invention provides means for increasing this difference and to ensure that the valve opens fully. In Fig. 1, a baffle h shields the smaller wing d from the dynamic effects of the fluid stream, and may be combined with a stop i to limit the opening movement of the valve. In Fig. 3, the valve is wedge-shaped, the smaller wing d<1> being the thicker, and this thick end is shaped so as to meet the front flat face at an acute angle.. The dynamic effect of the gaseous stream on this shaped end has a component tending to move the valve to its open position. A stop i<1> is provided. In all cases the valve is maintained in its closed position by a spring f or f<1>.
