Convention date, March 2, 1932. [Class 81 (ii).] In a foot-arch support having supporting springs adjusted by the rotation of a tensioning device, the latter is provided with stops which, during use, permit of its turning in the direction of opening only within predetermined limits. To the insole 1 are secured the sole plate 2, bent spring 3, heel spring 4 and base plate 5. The tensioning device consists of screw bolts 6, 7 and nut 8 constituting a turnbuckle. An arm 10 slides within a bore 9 of the nut 8 and is of a length greater than the distance between the plate 2 and the insole of the shoe so that any turning movement, after the support is positioned in the shoe, is limited. Instead of a turnbuckle, bolts engaging helical surfaces as in a bayonet joint may, for example, be employed, and stops on the support or the adjacent parts of the shoe may be provided.
