392,866. Valve circuits. TELEFUNKEN GES FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Jan. 9, 1933, No. 704. Convention date, Jan. 9, 1932. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v).] To prevent hum in valve circuits employing indirectlyheated valves, the cathode is given a negative voltage of, say, two or more' volts relatively to the heating filament, sufficient to saturate the space path between them. The usual self-biasing resistance 2 is employed with its lower end connected to the negative terminal of the anode supply 4. The mid-point 3 of the heating filament, however, is not connected to the negative end of the supply 4, but to a point thereon sufficiently positive to render the filament two or more volts positive relatively to the cathode. As the cathode is negative relative to the filament, emission from the latter cannot reach the valve anode.
