Abstract

392,367. Electric systems for transmitting mechanical power. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Chutter, G. A. ; 1624, East Newton Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A.) June 10, 1932, No. 16489. Convention date, June 15, 1931. [Class 38 (iv).] Regulation, automatic.-Excessive fluctuation of voltage or power factor in a system comprising a synchronous generator 1 supplying a synchronous motor 3 sustaining a varying load is prevented by an automatic regulator 6, 7, 8 subject to the voltage of the generator, which controls the common source 5 of excitation of the generator and the motor. An auxiliary source 13 of independent excitation for the motor may be employed during steady load periods or when desired.
