Abstract

392,199. Converting electric currents; induction coils. BROWN, S. G., 64, North Gate, Regents Park, London. Nov. 12, 1931, No. 31320. [Class 38 (ii).] In an arrangement for producing high-tension unidirectional current from a lowtension source by means of an induction coil of the type comprising a primary and a secondary winding each divided into two equal portions on separate but similar magnetic cores and with the rectifier connected between the portions of the secondary winding, two choke coils of substantially equal inductance are connected one to the output end of each portion of the secondary winding. As diagrammatically illustrated, the portions 3, 4 of the primary winding are so wound as to produce opposite polarities at corresponding ends of the cores 1, 2, the make- and-break 7 in the primary circuit is included in the connection between the portions 3, 4 of the primary winding, and a condenser 11 is connected across the output ends of the portions 5, 6 of the secondary winding. The rectifier is indicated at 8 and the choke coils, which are preferably wound on a closed magnetic circuit, are indicated at 9, 10.
