Abstract
392,196. Spare-wheel covers and holders. RYCROFT, N., CORNER, J. A., CORNERCROFT, Ltd., 2, Vecqueray Street, Coventry, and PUBLIC TRUSTEE, (Representative of MEATES, T. W.), Public Trustee Office, Kingsway, London. Nov. 10, 1931, No. 31098. [Class 136 (i).] Covers for the tyres of spare wheels of motor vehicles, and more particularly those of the type made of metal or other rigid or semirigid material, and comprising a peripheral portion adapted to enclose the tread of the tyre and an annular portion adapted to cover one side of the tyre, the cover being transversely split or divided at one or more points, are provided with one or more peripheral bands or rings arranged between the marginal edges and adapted to embellish the cover and/or to secure it in position about the tyre.. The bands may be made of metal &c., and may be either permanently fixed to the cover or mounted loosely thereon, and located by grooves, seatings &c. around the periphery, the bands being arched, fluted, ornamented, &c. In the transverselysplit cover 'a shown in Fig. 3, the band b is contracted by means of a fastening c so as to secure the cover about the tyre. The lower part of the wheel may fit into a well, or into fixed shoes e, Fig. 4, on the vehicle, and the upper part may be provided with a cover a secured by a band b, which is attached to a stud e<1> and is fastened at c.
