Abstract

391,391. Glass manufacture. VELLO, L. S., 2, Avenue Charles V, Nogent-sur- Marne, France. Nov. 28, 1932, No. 33623. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1931. Addition to 349,315. [Class 56.] In the process described in the parent Specification for the manufacture of glass tubes wherein the molten glass flowing vertically from a furnace, and the end of the tube is rotated while a forward movement is given to said end, feed rollers are so arranged and operated as to exert on the tube an oblique frictional couple whereby a helical movement is imparted. Each roller 1 is inclined to the tube so that the latter contacts at a and b with the flanges 2, 3. There may also be contact at c with the roller body. Rotation of the roller in the direction of the arrow f causes rotation of the tube in the direction f<1>. For varying the pressure exerted by the flanges, the shaft of each roller 1 traverses pivots 5, 6 mounted on a link quadrilateral pivotally supported at 9, 10 and deformable by means of a handle 11. All of the rollers may be mounted in one quadrilateral.
