391,348. Fillers for egg cartons &c. BRYANT CARTON CO., Ltd., 320, Church Road, Merton, London.-(Benoit, L. ; 2614, West 50th Street, Chicago, U.S.A.) July 28, 1932, No. 21334. [Class 18.] A carton, wrapper &c. A, Fig. 1, for eggs or other articles is provided with a removable collapsable filler comprising cross-walls B and longitudinal partitions C which are arranged in pairs in V formation. The cross-walls B are slotted as in Fig. 2, and the longitudinal partitions C as in Fig. 3. and when the filler is collapsed the walls assume the configuration shown in Fig. 8, all the walls being then parallel. The sliding movement which occurs on collapsing between the walls B, C is allowed for by making the perpendicular distance from the point 30, Fig. 3, to the edge 32 less than the distance 26, 27, Fig. 2. In a modification, the slots 22 do not reach the edge 23 of the wall B and the material at the inner ends is cut to form flexible flaps, e.g. as shown at 57 in Fig. 17. The partition 55, Fig. 17, may be positioned centrally in the upper half of the cross-piece B. The partitions C may be slotted along both edges.
