[Class 18.] In means for packing eggs or like fragile objects of the kind made from a single blank provided with a number of parallel crease lines dividing the blank into sections, one or more of which have seats for the eggs while the, others form a rectangular casing surrounding the seats, the sections formed with the seats extend in the erected position diametrically from one of the longitudinal edges of the casing to another. The blank 1 has crease lines 23 .. 27 forming rectangular sections 28 .. 33, the section 28 having a series of seats formed by slits 18, 19 crossing each other to form flaps 20. To form the carton the sections 28, 29 are folded upwardly along the line 24 and the section 28 is then folded downwardly along the line 23 until its free end is near the crease line 25. The eggs are then placed in their seats and the sections 31, 32 are folded to form with the sections 29, 30 a rectangular casing surrounding the eggs. The outer section 33 is folded into the casing and the adjacent edges of sections 29, 32 are secured by a gummed strip 21. Short branch slits 22 may be formed at the ends of the longer slits 18. In a modification the blank is formed so that the rectangular casing is divided by a vertical partition into two compartments each of which has a diagonally-extending section provided with seats for eggs.
