349,468. Cartons &c. for eggs &c. HOLED-TITE PACKING CORPORATION, 100, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A. Feb. 25, 1930, No. 6291. Convention date, Aug. 9, 1929. [Classes 18 and 94 (i).] A holder for fragile articles, adapted to be used either alone or as an internal fitting for a carton, comprises a sheet of material 10 divided by fold lines 15, 16, 17, into strips or sections 11 .. 14, each of which consists of continuously curved depressions 18 and projections 19 merging into one another, and is characterized in that the depression and projections protrude in opposite directions beyond a plane passing through the longitudinal edges of each strip. When the sheet is folded about the fold lines to the form shown in Fig. 4, a plurality of rows of article compartments or cells are formed, by the juxtaposition of the depressions and projections in adjacent rows. The holder, if used alone, may be kept in the set-up position by means of elastic bands, gummed tape or the like. In a modification the depressions and projections extend completely across the sections from one fold line to the next so that the holder is completely free from flat portions. The width of the sections is such that the central hinge and the upper ,edges of the sections extend above the upper limit of the packed article so that shocks or blows from above are borne by the holder and not by the article.
