Abstract

Armour plate, which may be either homogeneous or cemented and hardened on one side, is made from steel alloys containing less than about 0,28 per cent of carbon, about 2,4 per cent of chromium, and either more than about 0,15 per cent of molybdenum or more than about 0,3 per cent of tungsten, with or without up to 5 per cent of nickel. The higher nickel contents are associated with lower carbon contents, and the nickel content is lower or wholly omitted in the case of thinner plates.
