Abstract
390,337. Coke ovens. STETTINER CHAMOTTE-FABRIK AKT.-GES. VORM. DIDIER, 90, Westfalische Strasse, Wilmersdorf, Berlin. May 7, 1932, No. 13267. Convention date, May 7, 1931. [Class 55 (i).] In a vertical coke oven, the chamber is so constructed that it has no continuous vertical cross section, by providing hollow members of roof-shaped cross section which extend between the side walls, the inclined surfaces of these members on which the charge slides, forming the walls of a heating gas supply channel in which the gas heats the charge externally before passing into contact with it. The oven may also be heated externally from the vertical side walls. In Fig. 1, roof-shaped members 27, and shoulders 28 provide a zig-zag channel, hot gases being supplied beneath the members 27, the surfaces of which are heated before the gas enters the charge. Hollow members 17, Fig. 2, or 41, Fig. 4, may be provided, dampers 26, 38 respectively controlling the passage of the heating gas from the.space 23 or 34 into the charge, these gases passing, in the case of Fig. 4, through openings 40 in an extension 35. Channels 20 formed in the walls may be used to supply heating gases. Specification 272,766, [Class 55 (i), Coking, &c.], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to an oven externally heated by gases from a producer 1 in flues 3, Fig. 1 (Cancelled), a chamber 2 being bent to provide sliding surfaces 7. The fuel chambers 29, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), are separated by heating channels 30 through which flue gases are passed. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
