Abstract
Wheel rims and other articles required to offer high resistance to abrasion are made of a eutectoid steel containing 0,65-0,78 per cent of carbon, 0,45-1 per cent of silicon, and 0,4-0,85 per cent of manganese with or without one or more of the following:-0,3-0,8 per cent of chromium, 0,25-0,7 per cent of tungsten, 0,22-0,65 per cent of molybdenum, and 0,18-0,6 per cent of vanadium, the total of the manganese and the other added metals, if any, not exceeding 1,35 per cent. After hot working, the article is cooled in such a way that the finished article has a purely lamellar pearlitic structure.
