Abstract
389,574. Stays ; hinges. TRAWFORD, Ltd., C., Caldmore Road Works, and HATTERSLEY, B., Watery Lane, both in Walsall. Dec. 8, 1931, No. 33981. [Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii).] In a folding stay for a perambulator or like hood, comprising two arms connected by a knuckle joint and having a levering handle, the handle is formed of a tubular sheet-metal pressing and has an integral U- or channelsection ear adapted to be rigidly secured to a lug extending from the end of one of the stay arms adjacent to the joint. In the construction shown, the ends a<3>, a<6> of the stay-arms are sheet metal pressings, connected by a pin b with a pressure plate b<1>. The stay-arm end member a<6> is formed of two similar flat members with semi-circular central portions to embrace the end of the stay arm, the parts a<7> on one side of the central portions forming part of the knuckle joint while those on the other side form a lug a<8> fixed into a U-shaped end portion d<1> of the handled. The joint portions a<7> of the members a<6> may be separated, as shown, by a distance plate a<9>, which may carry a catch c to engage a recess in the member a<3> and hold the hood partly open.
