Abstract
200,299. Barton, P. C. May 22, 1922. Addition to 173,676. Stays.-The complementary upper and lower bar members of the casement stay described in the parent Specification are formed, according to the present invention, from sheet or other wrought metal by pressing operations. The lower and slotted bar g is formed from a. blank shaped so that the end to be attached to tha window bracket member may be bent to form part of a double hinge member. The emd g<2> is bent so as to be somewhat above the plane of the bar g, when it is riveted in position between lugs of the attachment bracket on the window, the part g<3> being cut away and bent as shown to form a hinge bearing surface for the knuckles of the upper bar i. This bar has its pivoted end formed with slits and the end centre piece is then removed and the metal bent into the shape shown at i<2>, i<6>. The parts i<2> form lugs which embrace the sides of the part g<3> of the lower bar g, and the raised part i<6> forms a stop member which has a rotatable bearing on the part g<3>, a hinge connecting pin passing through the lugs and under the part g<3> to secure the two bars together.
