Abstract
134,215. American Fork & Hoe Co., (Assignees of Lowell, E. D.). Oct. 21, 1918, [Convention date]. D-handles for agricultural tools of the type comprising a metal socket and arms of channel section with a wood hand-grip fixed between their ends, have the flanges of the arms gradually reduced in depth from the socket. to the grip, and the arms may also be gradually reduced in width. As shown, the socket 10, which is fixed to the end of the handle h, has integral arms 11 of channel section formed by edge flanges 12 and substantially flat central portions, as shown in Figs. 5 and 6. These flanges are gradually reduced and disappear at the ends of the arms, the ends being concave and riveted to the ends of the wood grip 20 by a through-rivet 30. The end of the rivet may be square, as shown at 32, to assist in preventing rotation of the grip. Two rivets 50, 51 at right-angles secure the socket 10 to the handle h. The device may be made from sheet metal, the edges being welded together at the socket 10.
