Abstract

388,950. Electric bells. SIMMONDS, W. E., 99, Central Park Road, East Ham, London. April 19, 1932, No. 11154. [Class 13.] An electric bell includes a hammer A, rod C, and armature D, the rod of which combination loosely slides through the core of magnet E, Fig. 1, or through the frame K, Fig. 3, between two electromagnets and has no fixed or hinged connection with other parts of the device.. In one form, the armature D, Fig. 1, carries a spring F provided with a contact F<1> pressed against a fixed contact G by a spring M. One circuit wire is led from a terminal J<2> through the magnet E to the spring F, the circuit is complete through the contact G to a terminal H<1>. In a modification, the spring carrying the contact is insulated from the armature by insulating strip R, Fig. 3. The hammer A has a cup A<1> of insulating material and the bell is designed to be connected direct to the ordinary household circuits.
