Abstract

214,787. Dungey, J. W. March 6, 1923. Magnetic instruments.-In a telephone receiver in which the casing is of magnetized metal and encloses a core and coil winding, the casing A constitutes the sole permanent magnet and a core X or cores of soft iron is directly attached and fixed to the casing, the coil winding C being detained in a fixed position relative to the casing. The ends of the coil are led to insulated terminals F on the casing. The core X may be formed of soft iron wires; or it may be tubular and a central core Z be screw-threaded within the core for adjustment by means of an external nut or lever. The casing may be magnetized with one pole all round the rim against which the diaphragm is clamped and the other pole in the centre to which the soft iron core is fixed.
