Abstract

388,258. Clock and watch mechanism. VUILLEUMIER, M., Le Sentier, Vaud, Switzerland. May 11, 1932, No. 13555. Convention date, May 13, 1931. [Class 139.] Escapements.-In a timepiece regulated by two independent escapements driven respectively by branches of the train, bifurcation of the train is effected differentially by spur gearing. The seconds hand 16, Fig. 1, is carried by a shaft 3, driven by the train through gearing 5, 4 and driving through gears 19, 20 the planet member 20, 21 rotatably carried in the gear wheel 17 which is rotatably mounted on shaft 3 and drives through pinion 14 the escape wheel 15. The gear wheel 21 of the planet member meshes with a wheel 22 rigid with the wheel 18 which is also rotatable about shaft 3 and drives through pinion 12 the escape wheel 13 (the regulating members of the escapements not .being shown). The gearing is preferably such that the two escape wheels rotate equally. Each of the two branches may be again bifurcated, when four escapements may be used. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes a modification in which the planetary member of differential mechanism comprises an arm 10, Fig, 1 (Cancelled), fixed to shafts 3 and rotatably carrying a conical pinion 11 meshing with the contrate teeth of wheels 6, 8 which are rotatably mounted on shaft 3, and drive the escape wheels 15, 13 through the pinions 14, 12 respectively. To obtain different speeds for the wheels 6, 8, the contrate teeth thereof may engage separate wheels 25, 24, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), both rotatably mounted on the arm 10, Fig. 1 (Cancelled). This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
