Abstract
775,629. Windscreen cleaners. MARQUE TTE METAL PRODUCTS CO. Aug. 10, 1955, No. 23063/55. Class 138(1) [Also in.Group XXIV] Mechanism for operating electrically driven windscreen wipers of aircraft comprises an epicyclic reduction train G in combination with an eccentric and pitman drive C, the pitman having rack teeth 22 meshing with a pinion 23 on the output shaft 15. The epicyclic train comprises a gyratory gear G2 with external teeth supported and driven by cranks G1 on parallel spindles 44 of gears 40 driven by a central gear 41. The gear 41 is mounted upon a shaft 14 together with a worm gear 10 which receives the input drive through a worm (not shown), driven by a flexible shaft 13a. The gyratory gear G2 meshes with an annulus G3 of small tooth difference to give a high reduction ratio. The annulus G3 is formed on a disc 28 which also has an eccentric 33 engaging the strap 21 of the pitman 20. Needle bearings 26, 30 support the disc 28 on the shaft 14 in alignment with the centres of pressure of the epicyclic gear teeth and the eccentric and pitman.
