388,174. Screw propellers. RUPP, A., 64B, Manteuffel Strasse, Tempelhof, Berlin. Jan. 7, 1932, No. 493. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1931. [Class 114.] Propeller hubs are made with a core a and a jacket b, the former, when it has to resist centrifugal forces, being made of a high resistance material, such as steel, whilst the latter, when it has to deal with torsional forces, is made of a suitable light metal. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also an arrangement in a four-bladed propeller for connecting the core member in the jacket member by means of an end-hood and through pin, the core and jacket members being provided with interengaging conical or other surfaces for centring purposes. Further arrangements are described for connecting socket members individually or in pairs to a central pin. Finally, in the case of a propeller with adjustable pitch, the hub is pressed against the inserted blade by means of a tensioning-ring fitted in a groove in the hub. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
