463,535. Air-screws. HEIN, H., (trading as HEINE, MOBELFABRIK PROPELLERWERK, H.) Nov. 2, 1936, No. 29728. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1935. [Class 114] Blades of wooden air screws adapted to be secured in metal hubs are provided with a conical root having two or more recesses with which a hub sleeve is connected in the manner of a bayonet joint. The spaces remaining after turning the sleeve into fixed position are filled by wedge-shaped members which are secured in position by a nut. The root of a blade 1 has two recesses 6 which have radial surfaces 16, and the bore of the hub sleeve 10 is correspondingly shaped so as to taper off and has recesses 15 so that when the root is inserted in the sleeve and turned through 90‹ the parts are locked. Contact surfaces 3 and 5 of the root and hub are preferably formed spirally with reference to the blade axis. When the hub sleeve is in position the openings 6 and 15 are filled by inserting wedge-shaped members 8 and final tightening is effected by means of nut 13 acting through a plate 9. The inserted pieces may be provided with a bonding agent, such as synthetic resin.
