Screw and like propellers.-A screw propeller for use on aeroplanes and of the type in which the pitch of the blades can be adjusted while the propeller is rotating, has the blades secured to short spindles f mounted in a ring a attached to the boss and provided with slotted arms l engaging pins k on an adjustable sleeve i slidably mounted on the boss d. The sleeve i is adjusted by a yoke engaging a ring m having a ball-bearing connexion with the sleeve. The spindles are provided with ball thrust bearings g, and at their outer ends have cross sockets t to which metal blades o are hinged at s. The metal blades are embedded in the laminations of the propeller and secured in position by keys p, the whole blade being further strengthened by wire wrapping r.
