554,454. Screw propellers. KILLEN, J. W. March 19, 1942, No. 3659. [Class 114] In a variable-pitch propeller in which the variation occurs cyclically, the blades a are carried by a screwthreaded shaft 3 rotatably mounted in a boss 2 on the end of the propeller-shaft 1 and at right angles thereto, axial movement of the shaft 3 being prevented by collars 4, 5. The pitch-variation is effected by nuts 7 engaging the thread of the shaft 3 and also engaging in a circular groove 9 in a fixed disc 10, which is eccentric to the propeller-shaft 1.
