Abstract

388,106. Striking-plates etc.; antirattle devices. PRESSED STEEL CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN, Ltd., Cowley, Oxfordshire, and FERNBERG, E. B., 11, The Drive, Edgware, Middlesex. Sept. 25, 1931, No. 26833. [Class 44.] In a combined lock or latch and anti-rattle device for doors, of the kind in which a spring- controlled lock bolt 9 co-operates with a stop on a striker plate and dovetail parts are carried on the striker plate and on the lock casing, the striker plate 1, the stop 2 thereon, and one member 5, 6 of the dovetail, are formed in one piece and the other member 11, 12 of the dovetail is formed of one or more pieces of bent sheet metal, secured to the end wall 8 of the lock casing and extending outwardly therefrom, the dovetail parts being arranged so that they are in effective engagement during the whole or a part of the movement of the bolt 9 across the striker plate. In a modification, Figs. 9 and 10, the stop 2 is divided longitudinally and one dovetail member 28, 29 is situated between the two parts of the stop, the bolt end being divided similarly and the other dovetail member 34, 35 being mounted between the two parts of the bolt. Modifications are also described in which the dovetail members are arranged below the bolt and the stop on the striker plate.
