Abstract

A process for improving the electrical conductivity of copper comprises adding 0,005-0,1 per cent of lithium to the copper in the molten state so that sufficient residual lithium remains to ensure that the final product is a binary alloy containing 0,002-0,005 per cent of lithium. The lithium may be added in the form of a pre-alloy containing, for instance, 2 per cent of lithium, the pre-alloy being fastened to a copper rod and stirred into the molten copper.
