[Class 18.] A folding box formed of cardboard, strawboard, or other foldable sheet material for use e.g. as a shoe-box, has an open top covered by a lid, an end hinged to one side and carrying a flap to close the junction between it and the bottom and an end-flap carried by the opposite side arranged to lie within the box-end and engage within a pocket on the inside of the end. The box-end may be constituted by a. part 21, Fig. 3, the pocket by a folded-over flap 22, the bottom flap by a part 26, and the end-flap by a part 17. The end 21 may beintegral with the box or stitched thereto as shown, and the flap 26 may have its ends 27 arranged to turn upwards to prevent collapse of the box. The flap 17 may further have an open-ended slot such as 29, Fig. 7, within which a wire stitching 24 engages to keep the end in the set-up position. The end may also be loose as in Fig. 7, the box being held assembled by slots 29 engaging wire stitches 30. The loose end may also be shaped as in Fig. 12, having tongues 31 engaging slits 32. A boxwith a display lid may be constituted as shown in Fig. 15, slots 29 engaging wire stitching 38, 39. This form may also have tongues similar to the tongues 31 of Fig. 12, the flaps 26 engaging either under or over the bottom. A further form is shown in Fig. 19.
