Abstract
386,541. Railway stops. HAYES TRACK APPLIANCE CO., Richmond, Indiana, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Hayes, S. W.; Richmond, Indiana, U.S.A.) June 15, 1932, No. 16916. Convention date, Sept. 30, 1931. [Class 104 (ii).] A wheel stop for attachment to a rail is adapted to slide on the rail on being struck by the wheel, and comprises a vertical plate carrying two legs 3 which dip into the ballast and abut on a sleeper. The plate is fixed to the rail by clamps comprising a pair of arms 5 adjustably bolted to clamping plates 8 which engage the rail at three points 16, 17, 18, and have flanges 10 connected by bolts 9 to plates 7 welded to the plate 1 and legs 5. By tightening the nuts 11 on the bolts 9, the plates 8 are drawn against the rail. In the form shown in Fig. 9, the clamping plates 23 are pressed against the rail by bolts 24 and screws 34 mounted in the depending legs 21 carried by the plate 1. In the form shown in Fig. 17, the clamps comprise channel members 39 engaging the rail at points 45, 46, 47 and enclosing legs 37 fixed to the plate 1. Bolts 43 carried by the legs 37 engage lugs 42<1> on the clamps and bolts 48 connect the lower part of the clamps to the lower parts of the legs.
