Abstract
372,845. Railway buffer stops. MOUCHLY, J., Mount Carmel, Haifa, Palestine. Feb. 19, 1931, No. 5308. [Class 104 (ii).] A buffer stop f is mounted on a pair of connected L-shaped frames a bolted to a pair of triangular frames b. The frames are frictionally mounted on the running rails c by clamps d, d<1>, each comprising a pair of plates d<2> gripping the rails c at their lower ends and the frames a, b at their upper ends. The clamps are connected by rods d<4> provided with nuts d<6> for adjusting the grip of the clamps. The horizontal arms a<1> of the frames a are chamfered at the ends and are long enough to allow a part of the train to mount them before the buffer is struck, thus increasing their friction grip on the rails c, and braking their movement along the rails. The grip of the clamps d, d<1 >may be automatically increased during this movement by providing the ends of the rods d<4> with threads of opposite pitch- and fixing on the rods arms which engage the sleepers during the movement of the frames, thereby turning the rods d<4> and tightening the nuts d<6>. The frames a, b may be duplicated &c. on a common base.
