753,824. Railway rail joints. DUSSELDORFER EISENHUTTENGES. Nov. 4, 1954 [Nov. 17, 1953], No. 32002/54. Class 104 (2). In a rail joint comprising one or more leaf springs 6, 7 extending below the joint 5 and in the longitudinal direction of the rails 3, 4, and reacting against the rails adjacent the joint with the ends of the springs 6, 7 are carried in two supports 8 arranged transversely of the rails 6, 7 and fixed to the rail flanges 9 and the supports consist of two independent U-shaped members, the arms 10 of which are screwthreaded and each arm 10 carries two clamping plates 11, 12 which engage below and above the rail flanges 9 so that on a nut 13 being tightened the springs 6, 7 are tightened and when the lower clamping plate 11 bears against the rail flanges 9 further tightening of the nut 13 completes the connection. Fish-plates 17 bearing against the rail head and flange only at their ends 21 are secured to the rails 3, 4 by a single bolt 20 passing through the centre of the joint 5 and are provided with lugs 18, 19 which extend around the rail flanges 9 and embrace guide flanges 15, 16 of a plate 14 inserted between the spring 6 and the rail flanges 9.
