Abstract
781,548. Rail-spikes; sockets. VOSSLOHWERKE GES. Dec. 7, 1955, No. 35056/55. Classes 89(1) and 89(2) [Also in Group XXX] In an arrangement for attaching rails to concrete sleepers by spring-clamps, each having two shafts 4, 13 which engage in plugs 16 embedded in the sleeper 1, the two shafts 4, 13 are disposed adjacent to, but slightly spaced from, one another and engage two parallel-bores 14, 15 in the plug 16 at a corresponding distance apart. The resilient-head of the clamp is, in plan view, kidney-shaped, and the space between the shafts 4, 13 is determined by the curved portions 9, 10 abutting one another at 7, 8 on the side of the shafts remote from the rail flange 6. The space between the bores 14, 15 is almost twice as great as the space between the bores and the outer surface of the plug 16. The plugs 16 are cylindrical and have two flattened portions disposed parallel to the direction of the rail.
