[Class 85.] In a packing head for oil wells in which the inner casing 6 is suspended by slips 5 in a tapered socket 1 secured to the outer casing 2, packing 16 is compressed in a groove in the end face of the socket by a ring 14 formed on a collar 12 secured to the socket by bolts 17, and packing 21 is compressed between the inner casing and the collar 12 by a gland 24 formed on a collar 13 secured to the socket by bolts 29.
