Abstract
385,517. Fusible cut-outs. SOUTHERN STATES EQUIPMENT CO., Birmingham, Alabama, U.S.A. Sept. 26, 1931, No. 14755/32. Convention date, Nov. 26. 1930. Divided on 375,153. [Class 38 (i).] A fuse element is built up of a pair of high-resistance wires 31, 32 the ends of which are inserted in a sleeve 33 and secured together by a readily fusible solder. The wires 31, 32 may be of nickel or nickelchromium and are carried by flexible end conductors 29, 30. On prolonged overload the heat developed in the wires 31, 32 melts the solder at a temperature that does not damage the insulating tube enclosing the fuse, as described in Specification 375,153. The ends of the wires 31, 32 may be corrugated &c. to give tensile strength to the joint as required for the switching arrangement therein described.
