Abstract

384,034. Spray carburetters. DUFF, W., 12, Willett Way, Petts Wood, Kent. Oct. 20, 1931, No. 29060. [Class 7 (iii).] In a carburetter using a plurality of fuels which may be compressed gases, highly volatile liquids stored under pressure, benzene or paraffin, a propane-butane pentane mixture is used for starting, another fuel for acceleration, and a further fuel for normal working. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, fuels are stored in tanks 1 .. 4, and are fed to constant level devices 5.. 8 before flowing to jets 17 .. 20 located in the induction passages 21 .. 24. A suction or mechanically actuated member 25 brings the jets into operation in succession and the jet 20 supplies a slow-running mixture through a passage 30 which is controlled by a valve 34 or by a screw, and discharges at the side of the throttle valve 31. 'In the modified construction shown in Fig. 3, the fuels are conveyed to passages 41, 42, 43 and a rotary valve 44 which is connected to the throttle valve 50 brings the fuels into use in succession. The discharge of fuel from the jet 45 is regulated by a needle valve 46.
