Abstract
383,839. Plug couplings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Prince, D. C. ; 1424, Wendell Avenue, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) March 8, 1932, No. 6949. Convention date, March 9, 1931. [Class 38 (i).] Electric connectors of the plug- and -socket type in which the flexible leads are directed substantially at right-angles to the direction of engagement are provided with handles extending outwardly in opposite direction from the axis of the connector. In the application to an electric flat-iron, Fig. 2, the handle consists of a tube 30 secured by a pin 36 in a clamping plate 32 extending upwards from the insulated body carrying the sockets or contact members 17, 18 which engage twin contact pins 11 on the iron 10, a protective casing 12 being also carried by the iron. The tube 30 serves as a guide for the lateral entry of the leads 25 into the connector.
