[Class 100 (ii).] Inking-apparatus.-Consiats in a transportable ink-feeding apparatus which may be located to feed ink to a selected ink-distributing system of a printing-press, so that a press normally equipped to print in one colour may readily be adapted to print in some other colour. In one form, Figs. 1 and 2, a transportable ink-rail 1 provided with the usual nozzles connected to pumps in a pump box 2, and with an ink-reservoir 4, is adapted to be secured to the top of the usual ink-rail 18, after removal of the cap of that rail, so as to feed ink to the distributing cylinder 17 after rendering the ink supply to the rail 18 inoperative. The rail 1 may serve as a cap to the rail 18 and be provided on its lower face with ports so that differently coloured inks may be simultaneously applied to the cylinder 17 from different sections of the rails 1, 18. The rail 1 may extend the full length of the; rail 18 or may consist of a short rail adjustable along the rail 18. The ink is forced from the reservoir 4 to the pump box 2 by air pressure supplied from a main or by a portable pump. 7. In a modification, an ink-reservoir is adaptedto be detachably secured to the :existing ink rail and an arrangement of valved pipes is provided to permit the pump box to be disconnected from the usual ink supply and connected to the reservoir. The transportable ink-feeding means may comprise an ordinary ink fountain with fountain roller and inkfeeding roller instead of the pump and ink-rail system.
